The following books come with recommendations by Pastor Russ. They have made a deep impression on his spiritual life.

Assurance and Self-Examination, Russell Boone

Many Christians struggle with assurance of salvation because they attempt to find it by an examination of their own works instead of by following the biblical pattern of "joy and peace in believing" as found in Romans 15:13. This book tells the story of how I was freed from this type of selfish introspection to find assurance through faith in Christ alone. You can purchase the book on Amazon here, Kindle here, or download a PDF here.

Commentary on Galatians, Martin Luther

In Bunyan's book, Grace Abounding, he tells of how he read Luther's commentary on Galatians. He said, "I do prefer this book...excepting the whole Bible, before all books I have ever seen." When I read that, I knew that I had to get this book. I purchased the edition published by Kregel and devoured it. If you want to learn about the doctrine of justification by faith, you need to read Luther. It can be found online at http://www.ccel.org/ccel/luther/galatians.html.

Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners, John Bunyan

This was the first Christian book I read after I was saved. It describes the struggles that Bunyan had as he was coming to Christ for salvation. He went through some very dark times, but the Lord brought him out of it. It can be found online at https://archive.org/details/graceaboundingt00bunygoog/page/n12/mode/2up.
